In the 1960 annual report of the Singapore Police Force, it is recorded that the purpose in setting up the Police Cadet Corps was
"to break down the barrier between the people and the police force, to achieve better cooperation and understanding of police duties by the public in general, besides instilling a greater sense of discipline in youth, and a stronger sense of civic responsibility."
Over the years, the Corps was to grow in numbers and substance. Today, we have nearly 18,000 members.
We, the members of the National Police Cadet Corps,
do here and now, solemnly and sincerely pledge that:
We will always bear true faith and allegiance
to the President and our Republic of Singapore;
We will always be loyal and true
to our country, our people and the government;
We will always be prepared to serve
our country and the community;
We will always preserve the peace
and uphold the law.
